Obama plans to send special operations forces to N. Syria

In a policy about-face, US President Barack Obama plans to deploy dozens of special operations forces to northern Syria to advise opposition forces in their fight against Islamic State, a step he has resisted throughout the five year civil war. The number will be small, according to White House sources, no more than 20 to 30 ground troops. Their tasks will be to coordinate air drops to rebels and re-supply those forces as they move toward Raqqa, the declared capital of Islamic State,
