Obama says Russia on wrong side of history
In Crimea, Ukraine border guards reported that armed men have seized a Ukraine border checkpoint at the ferry terminal and three truckloads of armed men had crossed by ferry to the Ukraine side.
The UN emergency Security Council meeting on Ukraine Monday occasioned a remark by US President Barack Obama that Russia with its military intervention is on the wrong side of history and violates international law. US Ambassador Samatha Powers lashed Moscow as “responding to an imaginary threat with no legal basis." She urged direct dialogue between Ukraine and Russia to end the crisis. The Russian UN ambassador Vitaly Churkin said Moscow had responded to a letter from President Viktor Yanukovych asking President Putin for a military force.
