Obama to rebut critics in his last national security speech
President Barack Obama will defend his counterterrorism policies in his final major speech on national security at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, later Tuesday. Before handing over to his successor, Obama will maintain in the face of his critics that his policies helped protect Americans from evolving international threats. This was achieved, he will say, by successfully building coalitions and working with local governments to take out militant leaders and disrupt Islamic State and other groups – without overextending the US military.
Donald Trump, who takes office on Jan. 20, has reproved Obama for not speaking out bluntly against "radical Islam."
