On a US presidential debate, bayonets, horses and cyber war
In the military segment of the US presidential debate Monday, challenger Mitt Romney charged that the US Navy had less ships than in 1916. President Barack Obama countered that his rival does not understand the needs of a modern army in a time of cyber warfare. “The military also has less bayonets and horses,” he mocked. Minutes later, corrections poured in by phone, e-mail and twitter: The troops in US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan were still using bayonets, they informed the president.
