One person was killed and 22 people were injured when a car mowed down pedestrians in New York's crowded Times Square shortly before noon on Thursday. The driver being arrested by police. The smoking vehicle was seen leaning against a barrier on the sidewalk. The police cordoned off the area. A US official told Reuters that there is no evidence that the incident was linked to terrorism. The car was driving the wrong way in Times Square. It was later reported that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and had two former drunk-driving offenses on his record.
