One killed, 6 injured in alleged Israel attack on Latakia
The Mediterranean coastal town of Latakia and “other coastal areas” were targeted in a Wednesday dawn attack attributed to Israel by Syrian State media. A Syrian military source claimed one civilian was killed and six injured, and that “defense” units downed some of the missiles. While the official report claims that a plastic factory was hit, Western intelligence sources report that the purported Israeli raids would have been aimed at weapons development plants. DEBKAfile adds that factories set up by Iran for developing high precision missiles for Hizballah have been located in Latakia, on the assumption that the aggressors would avoid targets near the big Russian Khmeimim base in that province.
