Ousted FBI director: Trump never told me to stop Russia probe

In his testimony on Thursday morning (Washington time) at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, former FBI director James Comey stated that neither US President Donald Trump nor any administration officials ever told him to stop the investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election. He said that he has no doubt that Russia interfered with the election, calling it a hostile action carried out with "purpose, sophistication and overwhelming technical efforts".
Comey said that he was confused by the Trump administration's "shifting explanations" for firing him and claimed the administration chose to defame him and the FBI by saying the bureau was in disarray and that the workforce had lost faith.
