Pakistani combat troops to Saudi Arabia

Following discussions with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan plans to send a brigade of combat troops to the oil kingdom in response to a request from Riyadh for “troops as an emergency response force”, according to media reports. The brigade will be based in southern Saudi Arabia to thwart threatened attacks by Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. “It will not be used beyond Saudi borders,” one source said.
