Injured Israeli victim shoots Palestinian gunman
A Palestinian terrorist on foot fired shots into the windscreen of an Israel car on the Hawara road on Sunday afternoon. The driver, who was seriously injured, pulled out his weapon and shot the terrorist as he fled the scene. Soldiers, on duty in the area since the murder of two Israeli brothers here weeks ago in exactly the same spot, quickly gained on the fleeing gunman and detained him. The victim’s wife, who was treated for shock, reported that her husband who was rushed to hospital is in stable condition. This terrorist attack coincided with the second high-level Israeli-Palestinian-US-Egyptian-Jordanian conference that was convened for an attempt to calm the escalating violence in time for Ramadan at the end of the week. The venue was the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh; the first took place in Amman.
