Palestinian Hamas, Islamic Jihad call for anti-Israel “day of rage”
Israeli security forces in Jerusalem are on high alert to meet a further escalation of Palestinian violence following the announcement by Hamas and Islamic Jihad of a “day of rage” against Israel. The two extremist groups are planning to stage “processions” in Hebron, Ramallah, Nablus and Tulkarm after Friday Muslim worship. Clashes with Israeli security forces are being orchestrated at the usual flashpoints including the Kalandia checkpoint north of Jerusalem, and especially on Temple Mount. There, security forces are keeping young thugs out by holding entry down to men over 40. There are no restrictions for women.
