Palestinian leader Abbas promises his people “glad tidings”
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas told reporters in Ramallah Saturday that he will have glad tidings for his people Sunday about the release of prisoners jailed in Israel. He did not cite figures. He also confirmed that Palestinian and Israeli teams would meet in Washington three days hence on Tuesday to discuss the restart of peace negotiations under the direct guidance of the United States. Sunday, the Israeli cabinet is due to approve the new round of talks and set up a ministerial panel to determine how many Palestinian prisoners are to be freed and when.
