Palestinian security forces receive Jordanian armored vehicles

The Palestinian Interior Ministry, which is in charge of the Palestinian Authority's security services, took delivery on Wednesday of two out of the six Jordanian armored vehicles that are scheduled to be delivered by Jordan's development bureau KADDB. The Al-Jawad vehicles are to be used by elite units of the Palestinian Authority. Janes Defense Weekly reported that the acquisition was financed by the US, and that the Israeli government approved the transfer of the vehicles. The Al-Jawad has ballistic protection on all sides and protection from explosions on the bottom. It can be fitted with a machine gun on its roof as well as means for dispersing demonstrations. The design of the chassis is based on that of a Ford 550 series.
