Palestinian sniper shot dead an Israeli soldier in Hebron
He has been identified as 1st Sgt. Gal Koby, 20, from Tirat Hacarmel. After being hit in the neck while posted near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron Sunday night, the stricken soldier was rushed to Shaarei Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem, where doctors were unable to save his life. Israeli military roadblocks were set up in and around Hebron in the hunt for the Palestinian sniper. Crowds celebrating the Succot festival were cleared from the square around the shrine.
