Palestinians report three killed in violent clashes with Jerusalem police
Palestinians sources report that a 17-year Palestinian boy was killed in the Ras al-Mud suburb Friday “possibly by gunshots” from a security guard. Police used tear gas to break up a Palestinian disturbance in that area and said they knew of two Palestinians injured. Palestinian sources reported another casualty in a riot at the A-Tur part of Jerusalem. Israeli police are investigating these claims.
Outbreaks, including bottles and rocks thrown at police officers, flared up in Jerusalem’s Arab districts after Friday prayers outside the gates of Temple Mount ended with hardly any incident. A few score Muslims defied Palestinian and Waqf officials and passed through the metal detectors kept in place by the police to ascend the shrine to pray at Al Aqsa Mosque rather than joining the congregations outside the gates.
