Panetta: The US will have more than a year to stop an Iranian nuke

The US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta shot back at Israel’s prime minister’s rhetorical question: Wait for what? by saying: “If Iran decides to make a nuclear weapon, the US would have a little more than a year to stop it."  He added that the United States has “pretty good intelligence” on Iran. DEBKAfile: If the US can afford to wait until Iran starts building a bomb, Israel’s leaders don’t feel they share that luxury. As for the quality of US intelligence on Iran, it may be recalled that in 2007 the US Intelligence Estimate concluded that Iran had given up its nuclear bomb program.
