Patrushev: Moscow owns a special interest in Israel’s security

Russia’s national security adviser Nikolai Patrushev met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu shortly after he arrived in Jerusalem on Monday to take part in the first trilateral meeting with his American and Israeli counterparts, John Bolton and Meir Ben-Shabbat. The Russian visitor said that Moscow has a special interest in preserving Israel’s security: “Two million of our nationals live in this country and Israel backs us up in several channels including the United Nations.” Patrushev went on to say: “We have a number of ideas about how peace can be achieved in your region.” They will be put before the meeting of the three national security advisers taking place on Tuesday.
