Paul Ryan is new Speaker of US House of Representatives
Republican Congressman Paul Ryan was selected on Thursday as the 54th Speaker of the US House of Representatives. The 45-year-old Ryan, who has represented Wisconsin in the Congress since 1988, previously served as chairman of the House budget committee. As for his views on the Middle East, Ryan has been a strong supporter of Israel and called for the moving of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He has also opposed unilateral steps for recogntion of the Palestinians. Ryan replaces John Boehner, who resigned.
