Pennsylvania police stop armed intruder reaching Turkish opposition leader
A security guard fired a warning shot Wednesday when he saw an armed intruder at the compound in Monroe Count, PA,.of Fetullah Gulen, whose extradition by the US is demanded by Ankara after President Tayyip Erdogan accused his movement of staging the failed coup of 2016. Gulen denies this. The gunman fled. No one was hurt. Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said recently that Turkey’s intelligence would launch overseas ‘operations’ against supporters of Gulen. Heavy police presence are setting up a perimeter around his compound while searching for the gunman.
