Pentagon approves sale of ‘bunker buster’ bombs to Ankara

The Pentagon on Tuesday approved a $700 million sale of BLU-109 smart bombs to Turkey. The munitions are to be supplied by General Dynamics and Ellwood National Forge under a four-year contract that expires in 2020. The "bunker buster" bombs containing 250 kg of explosives and aluminum powder have previously been used by the US air force in Iraq and Afghanistan.
