Perpetrator of Rahat stabbing attack captured

Following a joint operation by the Israel Police and the Shin Bet internal security agency, a 17-year-old Palestinian from the village of Yatta near Hebron was arrested on suspicion of stabbing Shlomit Gonen, a resident of Kibbutz Mishmar Hanegev, in the city of Rahat at the beginning of this month, a police spokesman said Wednesday. A manhunt by security forces resulted in the discovery of evidence linking the suspect to the attack, and led investigators to his home. He admitted stabbing the victim and handed over the knife that he used. The suspect is to be indicted within the next few days.
