Perpetrators of California attack: Syed Farook, Tashfeen Malik
Two people who carried out a mass shooting at a regional center in San Bernardino, Caifornia on Wednesday have been identified as Syed Farook, an American Muslim, and his wife, 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik. The couple used automatic weapons and pistols to carry out the assault in which 14 people were killed and 17 were wounded. Another person suspected of being involved in the attack, who has yet to be identified, was captured and taken into custody. Farook and Malik fled the scene but were killed several hours later in a gun battle with police. Following the attack, bomb squads found three explosive devices in the center and disarmed them.
The FBI said it does not rule out the possibility that the attack was an act of terror. "We will go where the evidence takes us," the bureau's Los Angeles director said.
