Peskov: Russia’s remaining contingent in Syria can deal with terror

“Everyone including the president is aware that terrorist attacks [in Syria] will not stop overnight and they will continue,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday, adding: “And in this case, the contingent that remains, and the military infrastructure that remains at the bases in Hmeimim and Tartus, they have all the necessary capabilities to combat these episodic manifestations of terrorist attacks.”  DEBKAfile: Peskov spoke in the light of the massive Islamist drone attack on Hmeimim, which followed President Putin’s assertion that the Syrian war was over and a Russian withdrawal imminent.
