Pfizer vaccine may face “production challenges”
US Health Secretary Alex Azar said on Wednesday that officials are working with Pfizer to help maximize production capacity for its covid-19 vaccine after the company said it may be facing “production challenges.” Pfizer’s Chief Executive Albert Bourla told CNBC earlier this week that the US government ws being asked to use the Defense Production Act to relieve some “critical supply limitations” on some components of the vaccine. The US extended its roll-out of the Pfizer covid-19 vaccine, inoculating healthcare workers on Tuesday, with Moderna’s vaccine on track to be approved by the FDA on Friday.
