Photos of forensic evidence from Manchester bombing leaked
The US media on Wednesday published photos said to show key forensic evidence from Monday's suicide bombing at the Manchester Arena, including pieces of the bomb and the backpack used by the terrorist. The photos were released by the New York Times and then picked up by other news organizations. The unauthorized disclosure of the photos amid the continuing investigation sparked anger, astonishment and disbelief in the British government, sources said. Home Secretary Amber Rudd said that she had asked Washington to ensure that "it should not happen again". British Prime Minister Theresa May will be meeting with US President Donald Trump and other leaders from NATO member states at a summit in Brussels on Thursday.
Meanwhile, British police continued to look into suspicions that the suicide bomber, Salman Abedi, was part of a network. A total of eight suspects have now been arrested with two more male suspects taken into custody on Thursday morning. A woman who was arrested was released without charge.
