PM and Defense Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday that Israel will conduct a military offensive in the Gaza Strip only if all other options fail. He spoke while cutting the ribbon on the norther segment of the National Highway 6. He came from attending a meeting on the Gaza border with local commanders. “We are tightening the security cordon around the Gaza Strip,” he said. “I have just ordered the forces reinforced and more equipment put in place to be ready for a broad offensive. All Israelis should know that if a major offensive should be necessary, we will go into it strong and with confidence after exhausting all other possibilities.” Regarding to the norther front, Netanyahu noted: “Over the Golan border, there is Syria and also Iran. Our actions to defeat Iran’s attempts to establish a permanent presence in Syria and smuggle in advanced weapons goes on and will continue.
