PM’s wife Sara Netanyahu convicted for misuse of public funds

Jerusalem Magistrates Court President Avital Chen Sunday approved the plea bargain reached between the prosecution and PM Netanyahu’s wife Sara, on the charge of ordering catered meals for the PM’s residence from public funds. Mrs. Netanyahu is to pay a fine of NIS50,000 (app. $14,000). Under the deal, the prime minister’s wife confessed to a reduced charge of intentionally exploiting another person’s error, in lieu of the original more serious charge of fraud. The state has reserved the right to sue Netanyahu in civil court for an additional sum.  Her attorney: “They grilled her as though she was the head of a criminal organization and what did they find in the end? A few trays.” He went on to charge: “The goal was to topple her husband and the government.”
