Police stop first Arab Israeli MK trying to enter Temple Mount

Israeli Arab lawmaker Jamal Zahalke, chairman of the United Arab faction, was stopped by police at Lions Gate Thursday when he tried to enter Temple Mount, in defiance of the prime minister’s order barring Israeli ministers and all Knesset members from the shrine to ease tensions. Zahalke read out a press release, in which he heaped derision on the prime minister’s order and announced he would not budge until he was handed a legal document barring his entry.
