Polls open in Assad-controlled areas for Syrian parliamentary elections

The voting for Syria's parliament started on Wednesday morning as 7,000 balloting stations opened in areas under the control of the Assad regime. A total of 3,500 candidates approved by the country's central election committee are competing for 250 seats.
