Pompeo threatens Iran with strongest sanctions in history

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned Iran on Monday that Iran will face the strongest sanctions in history if it does not change course. Iran will be “battling to keep its economy alive” under the sanctions and will have to choose between maintaining its economy or sponsoring terrorist and insurgent groups in countries like Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, he said. The Secretary laid down 12 conditions for Iran to follow including its withdrawal of involvement in those countries, in order for the US to agree to a new nuclear deal.

Whether one likes Trump’s personality or not, the contrast between Obama’s dithering over foreign policy and Trump’s robust America First foreign policy is striking.
