Popular demo in Latakia against Assad’s cousin
More than 1,000 people took to the streets Saturday in the coastal city of Latakia, heartland of the Assad regime’s following, to protest the killing of a Syrian air force official by the president’s cousin, Sleiman al-Assad. He is accused of shooting dead Col. Hassan al-Sheikh in a dispute at a checkpoint. The demonstrators said they would continue protesting until Sleiman Assad was executed.
