Powerful New Zealand tsunami after earthquake
A tsunami threatens Christchurch, Wellington and Chatham Islands on the east coast of New Zealand after a magnitude 7.8 quake struck some 95km from Christchurch. The tsunami arrived in the northeastern coast two hours after the quake, with waves of two meters high. Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes. Others have offered people safe beds on social media. Christchurch was hit by a tsunami in 2011, cause 185 deaths.
