Precise intel from ground troops helps US attacks in Syria: Carter
US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said Tuesday that intelligence collected by American troops on the ground is helping the country's air force increase the pace of its attacks on ISIS and make direct hits on targets. Carter, who will meet Wednesday in Germany with his counterparts from Washington's main allies in the anti-ISIS coalition, said the intelligence-gathering operations are bearing fruit. The 50 US special forces troops currently based in Syria will be reinforced with 250 additional troops in order to intensify the fight against Islamic State and augment the intelligence network on the ground.
