President Trump and PM Netanyahu speak by phone
President Donald Trump talked on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, two days after his inauguration. Neither leader offered details about the subject of their conversation. Netanyahu told a weekly cabinet meeting earlier Sunday that he aimed to use the call with the new US president to discuss the Palestinian issue, the conflict in neighboring Syria and threats posed by Iran.
“Stopping the Iranian threat, and first and foremost the threat reflected in the bad nuclear agreement that was signed with Iran, continues to be a supreme goal of the State of Israel,” Netanyahu said, according to a statement from his office Trump in his campaign vowed to rip up the accord.
