Pressure intensified on Hamas on Day 4 of search for teenagers
The Israeli cabinet was Monday discussing punitive measures to pressure Hamas, as the massive IDF-intelligence search, and dozens of arrests of Hamas activists, has still not led to the whereabouts of the three Israeli teenagers kidnapped last Thursday. The Palestinian parliament speaker was among the 40 senior officials detained Sunday night. One proposal is to shut down Hamas institutions on the West Bank, cut off their funding sources, and deport all its high-ranking officers. Another is to declare null and void the 2011 deal which freed a thousand convicted Palestinian terrorists, including murderers, in exchange for Gilead Shalit, the soldier Hamas held hostage for five years.
