Prime Minister backtracks on choice of Akunis as Justice Minister
PM Binyamin Netanyahu Wednesday reversed his choice of Ofir Akunis as Justice Minister while the High Court was still deliberating the Attorney General Avihai Mandelblit’s allegation that the appointment made by ministerial vote on Tuesday was illegal. Netanyahu said he had asked the cabinet to reconvene and confirm Defense Minister Benny Gantz in the post instead. But he refused to go back on his determination that the Attorney General was wrong.
