Pro-Assad flags at Arab Israeli “Land Day” Event
A large number of Israeli Arabs rallied Saturday for the annual anti-Israel protest “Land Day” event at Sakhnin, northeast of Tel Aviv, many waving PLO and pro-Assad Syrian flags.
On the West Bank, in solidarity, Palestinians lobbed rocks and bottle bombs at Israeli security forces near Qalqilya, at the Kalandia checkpoint and from the Gaza town of Rafah, where a number were injured by Israeli fire when they approached the border fence.
Near Beit Arieh east of Ben Gurion airport, a Palestinian vehicle was stopped after a chase. The passengers were carrying guns. Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayad demonstratively planted a tree in the E1 area between Jerusalem and Maaleh Adummiim. Israeli police uprooted the tree and broke up the party attending Fayad.
