Probe opened for antisemitic insults targeting Miss France runner-up

A wave of antisemitic abuse followed the mention of her Israeli roots by April Benayoum, 21, when she was placed second in the Miss France pageant. It included tweets invoking the Holocaust. The Paris prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into the authors of the comments and police were mobilized. Benayoum, who earlier won the Miss Provence contest, was born to a Serbo-Croatian mother and an Israeli father.
