Putin backs El-Sisi’s bid for Egyptian presidency

Although the Egyptian strongman Gen. Abdul-Fattah El-Sisi has not official announced his run for the presidency, Russian President Vladimir greeted him warmly in Moscow Wednesday, saying: "I know that you, mister defense minister, have decided to run for president of Egypt. I wish you luck both from myself personally and from the Russian people." Field Marshal Sisi is in Moscow to conclude a $2bn arms deal to replace some of the weapons withheld by Washington after Mohamed Morsi was overthrown.  Field Marshal Sisi said: "Our visit offers a new start to the development of military and technological co-operation between Egypt and Russia. We hope to speed up this co-operation."
