Putin expels 755 US diplomats in retaliation for sanctions
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered 755 U.S. diplomats to leave the country b Sept. 1 in a Sunday interview with a Russian television station.
“We waited for quite some time that maybe something will change for the better, had such hope that the situation will somehow change, but, judging by everything, if it changes, it will not be soon,” Putin said regarding U.S.-Russia relations.” He added: We decided that it is time for us to show that we will not leave anything unanswered.”
Last week Congress voted to increase sanctions against Russia, as well as Iran and North Korea, over Rusia’s annexation of Crimea and alleged meddling in US election. Trump said he would sign the bill.
