Putin suspends INF Treaty in tit-for-tat  against Trump

“We will do as follows. We will come up with a tit-for-tat response,” President Vladimir Putin told Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a meeting on Saturday after President Donald Trump announced the US withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. “Our American partners have announced the suspension of their participation in the treaty, so we will suspend as well.” He ordered Lavrov not to begin any new disarmament talks with the US and the Defense Ministry to begin developing new nuclear-capable missiles including supersonic ones. At the same time, Putin noted that Russia should avoid being drawn into a new and costly arms race.

I should think that SALT I and II, START, NEW START, the Limited Test Ban Treaty, the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, NPT, ban on nuclear weapons on seabed, Mutual and Balanced Force Reductions in Europe, CSCE, treaty on Conventional Armed Forces are next to disappear.

The US could very well end up with no treaties with Russia, none. Is that really a good idea?

What’s the value of so-called “treaties” that are only adhered to by one side? Help me out, Bob. What’s the value of illusions?…and deception? For example, do couples ever go to the trouble of an initial so-called “Open Marriage?” Why do I suspect you know the answer?
