Putin visits Tehran for talks on Syria, oil and economic cooperation

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Iran Wednesday for bilateral talks that will be pivotal for  carving out the framework for Syria’s post-war future at the Astana peace talks. They are also expected to discuss coordination in world oil markets and economic cooperation, including the sale of Russian nuclear reactors to Iran. Putin’s visit to Tehran will occasion a trilateral summit with Azerbaijan’s Aliyev llham. They will discuss the completion of a rail link along the North-South Transport Corridor through Iran and Azerbaijan that connects Russia to India.
