Putin was first world leader to congratulate Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent Donald Trump a telegram of congratulation on winning the US presidency. In a brief statement, the Kremlin said Putin expressed “his hope to work together for removing Russian-American relations from their crisis state and also to address pressing international issues and search for effective responses to challenges concerning global security." Putin said he was sure a constructive dialogue between Moscow and Washington would serve the interests of both countries.
