Putin’s spokesman denies Russian forces in Syria fired at Israeli planes
Russian President Vladimir Putin's personal spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, on Friday strongly denied Israeli media reports that Russian forces recently fired antiaircraft missles at Israeli warplanes as they flew in Syrian airspace. He said "In this case, the Israeli press reports are far from reality."
DEBKAfile's military sources report that Russian antiaircraft missiles were not fired at Israeli air force planes. Rather,as our sources reported Thursday morning, Russian fighters were scrambled as Israeli warplanes approached, but both groups of fighters turned back, and there was no confrontation.
