Pyongyang accuses US of a “nuclear bombing drill”
North Korea’s KCNA denounced the US Tuesday for conducting what it claimed was a “nuclear bombing drill” by a B-1B bomber coordinated with a nuclear-powered submarine and an aircraft carrier in the Sea of Japan. The article accused the "U.S. imperialists" of "military provocation that further increase the risk of nuclear war," while condemning joint US-South Korea military exercises.
A US military spokesman said Tuesday the THAAD missile defense system was now operational in South Korea. It was capable of intercepting North Korean missiles and defending South Korea. Monday, two US bombers took part in a joint drill with the air force of the South.
