Qatari envoy: Palestinians agree to UN distributing remittance

Following the impasse over Qatar’s monthly $15m remittance to the Gaza Strip – Hamas refused to accept the third installment on Thursday after Israel approved its transfer – Qatari ambassador Muhammad Amadi called a conference in Gaza City on Friday to announce a solution. He reported that he had obtained the consent of all the Palestinian organizations in the territory for the UN to allot the monthly installments to needy Palestinian families and humanitarian projects. The Qatari ambassador said the Palestinians would sign an accord to this effect next Monday. The funds would give the Gazans work, he said, and instead of relief grants, they would be paid wages.
