A Qatari royal says he is held prisoner in UAE

In a video circulated via social media Sunday, Qatari Prince Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani said: “I am currently in Abu Dhabi. I was a guest of Sheikh Mohammed. I am no longer a guest; I am a prisoner. If anything happens to me, Sheikh Mohammed [Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed] should be held responsible.” The clip has caused a sensation in the Gulf region, DEBKAfile’s sources report. His allegation of being held against his will has not been confirmed. However, this Qatari prince has been traveling for the past six months between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi in an effort to patch up the quarrel between them and his government, even though the royal family’s influence in Qatar is negligible.
