Qatar’s Al Jazeera channel in US to be shut down in April
The CEO of cable news channel Al Jazeera America said Wednesday that the channel will be shut down on April 30. The closure of the Qatari TV station in the US is due to economic reasons following very low ratings, with just 40,000 viewers in prime time. In addition, a number of the reports broadcast by the network were found to have been fabricated, resulting in enormous lawsuits. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in the channel.
