Rare Iranian transparency about a dispute between two counterintelligence agencies
The official ISNA service revealed on Monday a meeting between heads of the counterintelligence arms of the Intelligence Ministry and the Revolutionary Guards to resolve dispute and formulate a “joint guideline” for future operations. The dispute sprang up over the arrest by the IRGC service of eight climate activists and their sentencing to long prison sentences. One died under questioning. The Intelligence ministry argued that they should not have been detained or accused.
