Replacement judge frees first Bezeq suspects from remand

Judge Alaa Masrawa, who took over the Bezeq case Monday, released from remand Iris, the wife of the main suspect Shaul Elovitch, and the Bezeg CEO Stella Handler, thereby reversing the long remands ordered by the discredited Tel Aviv magistrate Ronit Poznansky-Katz. Both were ordered to stay away from Bezeq premises and deposit their passports. The judge is still hearing the pleas for release filed by the attorneys of Elovitch and other suspects, on grounds that the case against them is contaminated by the suspended judge’s misconduct.
