Riyadh anticipates fruitful cooperation with Trump: Saudi FM
Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said Thursday that his country is interested in continuing its close and fruitful cooperation with the US under the administration of Donald Trump. He made the comment before his meeting with American Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on the sidelines of a meeting of top diplomats from G-20 member states in the German city of Bonn. Riyadh is very concerned about the spread of Iranian influence in the Middle East, including Tehran's involvement in Syria and especially its support of the Houthi rebels in Yemen. As DEBKAfile reported on Wednesday, Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu are aiming to broaden the Israeli-Palestinian peace process to a regional effort including Saudi Arabia and the Gulf emirates.
